In the morning, discover the Tunnels of Cu Chi, a historic region of the Vietnam/US War. Stretching from Saigon to the Vietnam-Cambodia border, the network includes countless trapdoors, entangled living areas, storage facilities and weapons factories, mini military hospitals, command centres and even kitchens.
Today the remaining tunnels have become a major tourist attraction giving visitors a unique experience and a sense of how life during the wars was like. Of course, the tunnels have been widened for the sake of nowadays' travellers.Joining this tour to Cu Chi, any of those interested can also grasp the opportunity to fire an AK47 or MK16 at the nearby rifle range.
Depart from Ho Chi Minh City, bright and early. Make sure you've had your morning coffee because you don’t want to miss the typical southern Vietnamese scenery en route to the Cu Chi District. As the car escapes the built up city, rice paddies and traditional village life will provide an interesting contrast to the frantic nature of Ho Chi Minh City.
Arrive and start your visit of the famous Cu Chi Tunnels which consist of an incredible underground tunnel network stretching nearly 200km, constructed by Vietnamese resistance fighters (Viet Cong) during both the French and American wars. During this tour, you will explore the Ben Dinh sections of the tunnel where you can begin to appreciate what life might have been like for a Viet Cong soldier, scheming and fighting from deep underneath the Vietnamese ground.
For the more adventurous, there is an opportunity to visit the Cu Chi tunnels shooting range to fire off a few rounds with an AK-47 or Russian Carbine rifle.
