Day 1: Get away to the idyllic villages in Mai Chau valley
After reaching Mai Chau town in previous days, let’s begin excitingly your first morning in Mai Chau valley. Renting a bike from the town center and finding a local guide who can speak English are tips for your hiking.
Well-known for idyllic villages, start your journey to discover the interesting surroundings and ethnic minority tribes with a relaxing walk to Pom Coong Village and Lac Village to know more about the daily life of Thai ethnic. Follow your guide, that would be chances for you to enjoy picturesque views of the scenic landscape, visit pagodas and rural villages. Stop along the way to visit the Muong tribe and then at Thung Khe Pass for a spectacular view of Mai Chau Valley. Traveling is not only to relax, why not to become a farmer to help the works on the fields. That was an unforgettable experience of my latest trip. After a hard-working morning, you could be invited to have lunch in a family house or if not, you can ask your guide.
Have a rest, continuing to explore Mo Luong Cave in the afternoon. Within 5 minutes walking from Lac or Pom Coong Village, the cave is an ideal tourist spot for tourists who love to explore and find the strange feeling in Mai Chau. These sites also could not be missed in many tours.
Try to have an overnight at a homestay in Poom Coong or Lac village. There, you will be toasted as honored guests and will be able to sample some of their homemade rice wine. In sampling these people’s hospitality, you will discover a little more about their lives and culture following the evening meal.
Day 2: Trekking Pu Luong by motorbike in Travel Mai Chau
After breakfast, drive or ride your bike/motorbike 20 km from Poom Coong or Lac village to Pu Luong Nature Reserve (200 km from Hanoi) which is bordered by Mai Chau (45 km), situated in Hoa Binh Province.
In Pu Luong, it’s more suitable for you to go trekking whole areas (Pu Luong Mountain, Kho Muong, Hieu, Don,.. villages) in 8 days. If you don’t be limited your time, schedule in 2 days is enough. However, being there in 1 day is also enough for you to trekking only in Pu Luong Nature Reserve.
Get through beautiful hillside villages, magnificent rice paddies, seeing handcrafted bamboo waterwheels. The highlight on this road is experiencing the everyday life and culture of the white Thai people. Enjoy a traditional dinner and stay the night at Hang village. Once you get there on weekends, you can take part in Pho Don Market, exciting activities of Thai people.
