Far away the Hanoi’s bustle and hustle, Sapa is the most ideal destination of both locals and foreign tourists to the northwest Vietnam. A Sapa trekking travel that can be suitable and enough for tourists to admire whole typical views of Sapa is planned for at least 3 days 2 nights by bus. How to make a tour by yourself? Below is a high recommendation of Sapa’s itinerary within 3 days 2 nights. It is a perfect combination of trek and culture while visiting the hill tribes’ villages at a pace and style that compliments you.

Day 1 : Hanoi – Lao Cai – Ta Van village
Daytime bus – Is it a convenient transport for Sapa trekking travel? Instead of traveling by overnight train, it’s also easy for many tourists to go by local bus. It takes just 5 to 6 hours to reach Lao Cai station. Therefore, it’s better if you take a bus early in the morning at 6 AM to arrive Lao Cai station at noon.
From Gia Lam bus station, Hung Thanh, VIP Limousine are highly recommended bus lines directly to Sapa. After reaching the town, you should rent a motorbike and hire a guide for trekking.
Firstly, find out a comfortable accommodation to put your luggage. It should be arranged before depending on your budget and your needs: homestay or hotel. At first day, why don’t enjoying a night at luxury homestay (Fanxipan Terrace Cafe and Homestay at Sapa downtown, Phori’s house at Ta Van village, etc.).
From the town, you can ask the way to Ta Van village where you will visit the Giay minority people. Trekking through this village will give you opportunities to see rice terraces, traditional stilt houses and a vibrant community. This is also a village of homestay. You can get easily an accommodation in this village, but in high season, it may be impossible.
Getting there at noon, you will have a chance to see the art of fishing with bamboo sticks and cooking the fish inside bamboo from local people or the owner of your homestay. Don’t miss to enjoy those specialties for lunch.
Then at 3 PM, it’s suitable for you to visit the Silver Waterfall, with a 300m drop. Scenic steps will lead you to the foot of the waterfall and the perfect place for photos.
After all, it’s the end of first day. Having returned to your accommodation where you can have dinner.
Day 2 : Let’s start to Coc Ly market – Chay River – Trung Do village
Coc Ly is a medium sized market of minority people where takes place every Tuesday before, but around 7 AM everyday nowadays. After 1 hour 45 minute drive to Coc Ly from Sapa, you can enjoy your time at the market, walk around, bargain and take in the sights and sounds of local life. You will meet many ethnic groups such as Flower Hmong (Red HMong) , Black Dao, Nung, Giay and Tay people besides of the goods on offer range from local fruit, vegetables, handicrafts and traditional clothes.
After exploring the market, take a short drive to the Chay river. From here, you can sail down the gently flowing waters, lined by corn and vegetable fields, it will give you unforgettable experiences. For have lunch, stop halfway down the river to visit Trung Do village of the Tay minority people. Also, it would be a chance for you to explore the farms of exotic chilli and jack fruit.
Then, back to your homestay to reach Sapa downtown before the evening and have an overnight stay in Sapa’s hotel.
Day 3: At Sapa downtown
Early in the morning, you can greet the last day to experience steep roads by motorbike in the Sapa town. Don’t miss to visit Stone Church, enjoy Sapa’s street food, etc.
You can enjoy yourself with other activities until the afternoon. After all, it’s the time to say goodbye and to arrive Lao Cai station to take a bus back to Hanoi station.
