Being one of mountain paths that should not be missed in the northwest Vietnam, Sapa is a tourist attraction for both domestic and foreign tourists. Ham Rong Mountain – Cat Cat – Ta Van – Ta Phin villages,… are the most popular stopovers in itineraries to Sapa.
However, your journey to Sapa would not be completed without trekking to Nam Sai, Nam Cang villages. In Sapa day trip, this article will give you more useful information for 1 day trekking in Nam Cang village.
Located in the most remote and beautiful area dominated by Red Dao minority, Nam Cang village is 42 km from Sapa town. A journey to Nam Cang is often combined with visiting Nam Sai village (35 km from Sapa) by motorbike or by bike.
Before getting to Nam Cang village in Sapa day trip
After reaching Sapa downtown, don’t miss to rent a motorbike for your perfect trekking. It’s certainly difficult for first-time visitors to travel on steep and narrow roads. You should prepare a day backpack, comfortable shoes, T-shirt for hot season; long trouser and light overcoat for cold season. While renting a motorbike, you can ask the way to the Nam Cang village if you do not want to hire a local guide.
On the way to the village
Visiting the village, tourists would have opportunities to explore the natural life of ethnic groups living in the mountains. To reach the village, you have to drive on mountain road running aside of the scenery Muong Hoa valley, where is famous for picturesque views of mountains, the biggest rice terraces and stunning waterfalls. At the far end of the road, you will meet the Red Dao women who wear some of the most colorful and diverse costumes of Vietnam’s ethnic groups. That is a sign of entrance to Nam Cang village.
Coming to Nam Cang, you will have chances to explore traditions, customs of lifestyle, take part in a number of cultural activities of the Dao people. During the months of Lunar New Year, many festivals are going to be taken place to pray for a good harvest. Besides, herbal bath, local medicine are some of the things that the Red Dao are very skilled at. If you go with a guide, it’s easier to explore and learn how to make writing paper, jewelry and embroidery. At noon, don’t forget to taste specialties such as grilled fish, colorful sticky rice, chicken dishes, etc. for lunch with local people while enjoying the peaceful atmosphere of the village.
After having a rest, you can take a swim in the river before coming back to Sapa town or your accommodation in Sapa.
