Being the usual destination for those coming to the south of Vietnam, Tan Son Nhat International Airport welcomes millions of tourists every year. There are many choices of transport to arrive the airport from Ho Chi Minh City and vice versa. We’ll give you some information about the airport transfer in Saigon and believable brands of transport.
There are many taxis around the airport. A normal taxi rides from the airport to a hotel in District 1 or vice versa would cost maximum 180.000 VND (~$8) with VinaSun, Mai Linh, Saigon Air Taxi (trusted taxi brands). It takes just 30-45 minutes.
At most hotels or hostels within district 1, you can ask receptionist and easily get a prepaid voucher with the same price. You don’t need to worry about which taxi to catch. As staying at Suite Backpackers Inn Saigon, you can get a voucher only 160.000 VND.
One important thing that it’s quite hard to get taxi in case of landing at the midnight.
Try to distinguish the real and fake taxis to avoid unexpected risk. With Mai Linh taxi company, they’re white and green cars or vans while the Vinasun taxi is white.
2.By Motorbike Taxi
Motorbike Taxi is one of popular means of transport in Vietnam, especially in Vietnam tourism at present. GRAB or UBER Motorbike Taxis are the best choice for those who would like to travel around the city and even to the airport. You will pay around 80-90.000 VND for reaching to airport. However, this kind of transport requires users to have a smartphone to book it.
3.By Public Bus
The cheapest way is to take public bus No.152 parking in a lane few steps away on the right side from the arrival’s entrance. From the airport station, it takes you Ben Thanh Market station and costs up to 10.000 VND per person and per piece of big luggage. It runs every 20 minutes from 6 AM until 6 PM.
4.By Shuttle Bus
There are many Shuttle Buses operated from 2016. Tourists can choose modern and yellow buses No.49, 109 from/to Pham Ngu Lao area. It runs through the main streets of city center.
The No. 109 (63 seats, air-conditioned, English-speaking guide) runs every 15-20 minutes between 5:30 AM and 1:30 AM of next day, costs for one-way trip is 20.000 VND, takes within 45 minutes.
The No. 49 is smaller (23 seats, air-conditioned, English-speaking guide), but its price is more expensive than the other (40.000 VND/pax). It runs every 30 minutes between 5:15 AM to 2:00 AM of following day, takes 85 minutes. This bus is a 5-star one, provides tourists a panoramic view of city tour.
