For a long time, Phu Quoc island has become one of the most favourite destinations of both domestic and foreign tourists. There are an amount of places to visit, included beaches, landscapes and even occupation villages.
1.Phu Quoc Prison
The prison was built by Southern Vietnam Government with sponsor from US during the war. There is a small museum with exhibition objects and movies showing history of the prison. Then you see the restored prison camps of local war’s prisoners. The prison is basic, but tells you about some of the horrific events to prison life. Once you got there, that’s an amazing place to visit but very confronting to see what the poor prisoners had to endure. There is no fee for admission. However, according to tourists, it may suitable for only adults, not for children.
One of the specialities of Phu Quoc is pepper. Phu Quoc pepper is famous for its spice and hot, especially the red pepper. It’s necessary to know that farmers do not use chemical fertilizers but organic fertilizers and dry peppers under the sunlight instead of by machine as in other regions. If you have a chance to visit pepper gardens in Phu Quoc, do not miss to buy some for family and friends as a gift.
Khu Tuong, 15 km to the north of Duong Dong town, is a highly recommendation for visiting pepper garden in Phu Quoc.
3.Tranh Stream (Suoi Tranh)
It is a natural site in Phu Quoc. It takes just a half day to go. It’s better for visiting and camping in the afternoon. During the monsoon, Tranh Stream is full of water, creating impressive waterfalls. This place is suitable for those who love to enjoy an idyllic atmosphere of nature.
