Hue is a city in central Vietnam that was the seat of Nguyễn Dynasty emperors from 1802 to 1945, and capital of the protectorate of Annam. It is next to Quang Tri Province to the north, Danang to the south, and Quang Nam Province to the south-west.
Hue leans up against the Truong Son mountain range and is washed by the East Sea, along its 120km seashore. It is about 700 km south of the national capital of Hanoi and about 1100 km (690 mi.) north of Ho Chi Minh City, the country’s largest city, formerly known as Saigon. Hue has many heritages like: The Imperial Capital, Thien Mu Pagoda, Huong River and Nha nhac Cung Dinh Hue.
It encompasses the Imperial City, with palaces and shrines; the Forbidden Purple City, once the emperor’s home; and a replica of the Royal Theater. Hue is well known for its historic monuments, which have earned it a place in UNESCO’s World Heritage Sites.
Although Hue is not strictly a coastal city, beach lovers will not be disappointed as there are several good beaches like Thuan An, less than 15 minutes away.
