Tra Que is a small village located 2 km in the north of Hoi An’s Ancient Town. The village is named after the sweet scented vegetables that spice up the everyday meals of the Hoi An people. Located between De Vong River and Tra Que alga pond, the village has been endowed with the special condition of rich soil and water and well-known for growing many kinds of vegetables for a long time. However, its tourism has just developed in recent years.
Tra Que Village is on the way from Da Nang to Hoi An Town, hence it’s easy to get there by bike, taxi or motorbike. Some travel agencies organised bike tour to this village.
The best thing of Tra Que is that many kinds of vegetables of Tra Que which are so good and delicious that you cannot find at another places. When you combine all types of vegetables or with different foods, it tastes spicy, sweet and bitter, contributed to its fame.
Tourists visiting Tra Que Village are often fascinated by watching the farming procedures from local farmers and excited as becoming a foreign farmer to join raking the ground, sowing, watering, picking vegetables and many other activities which are rarely seen in modern daily life. Therefore, they will be more knowledgeable about difficult works of farmers.
After a hard-working day, tourists will enjoy many special dishes from mixed vegetables such as Cao lau, Quang noodles, banh xeo, etc and some kinds of drinks extracted from local herbs.
Beside that, taking a cooking class or take a bicycle around the village is not a bad idea either. Just imagine that your soul will be relaxed in the nature fulled of wind and tiny flowers. What an interesting experience!
The best time to visit the village is around 6:30 to 8:00 in the morning or at the end of afternoon.
