Travel from Sapa to Halong Bay by bus
There is no direct bus between Sapa and Halong Bay until now. However, there are two sleeping buses that run between Lao Cai and Halong Bay operated by bus companies: Thien Ha and Phuc Xuyen. Among of them, Phuc Xuyen bus line is highly recommended for services in spite of its long duration (it takes over 6 hours to reach Ha Long – Quang Ninh from Lao Cai bus station).
For Phuc Xuyen bus line, departure time from Lao Cai bus station is 13:40 PM and arrival time to Ha Long Bay (Bai Chay bus station) is about 20:00 PM; bus fare: 320,000VND (it can be changed according to each duration).
These sleeping buses run on new highway Lao Cai – Ha Noi (or Noi Bai highway). This new road shortens travel time and distance from Hanoi to Sapa and vice versa. This is also a good chance for you to admire the beautiful scenery when you travel on the longest highway in Vietnam.
After arriving Lao Cai, go to Lao Cai bus station for taking a sleeping bus that directly goes to Ha Long Bay via Ha Noi. It passes through not in city center of Ha Noi but just in front of My Dinh bus station and Hai Phong and finally arrives Ha Long Bay.
