Located in Lac Duong District, Lam Dong Province, Lang Biang Mountain is only about 12km from Dalat city center. It is sometimes called Lam Vien Mountain as well. Looking from the central of Dalat, tourists will see Lang Biang Mountain standing imposingly and beautifully like the roof of Dalat city.
Referred to K’Lang and Ho Biang’s love story
Legend say that the name of Lang Biang is origined from the name of a couple who fall deeply in love with each other – the boy named K’lang and the girl named Ho Biang. However, they weren’t allowed to get married due to the long-standing feud between their tribes. One said that at last, they got married and then moved onto a mountain to live. Unfortunately, when Biang caught a critically illness, K’lang had to come back to the tribe to ask for help, the people here shot him with a poisonous arrow. In fact, it was Ho Biang to be shot since she had shielded her husband. He could not suffer such loss, he cried and his tear made up a big stream which is now called Dankia (the Golden Stream).
The roof of Dalat
Lang Biang consists of two highest peaks of Lam Vien Highland: Lang Biang (2.167m) and Bidoup Ban ( 2.287m), which is considered as the roof of Dalat. The mountain is famous with its stunning spectacular as well as its marvelous view to the whole of Dalat city, the forests, rivers and houses of tribal people.
Standing on the top of the mountain, tourists can see the beauty of Silver and Gold Stream or look over to fanciful Dalat – like a lush green valley with two pieces of silver silk.
